Bass fishing is a sport that can requires a great deal patience at times and this is what separates the successful angler from the non-successful. What do I mean? Well, one of the best bass fishing tips you'll ever get is when a technique is not working for you, change it!

All too often stubbornness sets in along with a little laziness. If the fish aren't biting and you promised the little lady fish that night then you'd better be prepared to do a some work during the slow times! There's nothing worse than getting home and taking a dose of ridicule from one of your biggest fans!

Have you ever had a day where you cast your line and nothing happens. Come on admit it, you'd be lying if you didn't! Those type of days can test even the most experienced bass fishermen but imagine how frustrating these days must be for those anglers who have decided to take up this past time for varying reasons; to take a break from the wife, for health reasons or to just simply get out and enjoy the environment.

The truth is, most of the time bass don't see it the way you do! One of the best bass fishing tips I received was if nothing is happening, you need to change what you're doing! Now how much sense does that make? Well to me it makes a lot of sense. The old saying of "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result" rings true in most walks of life. And this saying also rings true when it comes to bass fishing.

For beginners intending on fishing a new lake a good tip is to get as much information as you can about the lake that you are planing on fishing. A map detailing the lake's peculiarities such as water depth including the shallow areas will give you a good starting point before you cast that first line.

When things aren't happening and the fish aren't biting consider making a few changes. Too many times anglers will just leave a line in the water in hopes that the tide will change. Maybe a bass is dumb enough to take pity on you and will just grab your line in an attempt to help you out a little. Or, you head for the cooler and rip the top off your favorite drink and simply wait it out.
